Dansu Dance Company
About
The Dansu Dance Company is for students specializing in contemporary jazz and modern dance. This group provides a platform for dancers to explore expressive movement and choreography, allowing them to develop their own unique style while strengthening their technical skills. Performers will have numerous opportunities to showcase their talent in various performances.

Time Commitments
✔ At a Glance: minimum of 4 hours a week

General Studio Dance Classes​
Must be enrolled in two technique classes at Studio Dansu starting the Summer after acceptance. Additional classes are recommended, but not required.

Company Technique and Choreography Classes
*Rehearsal times are subject to change based on studio, instructor and dancer availability*
A minimum of one-115 min rehearsal that meets once per week.

Performances and Events
Company Members will be expected to be available and any extra rehearsals leading up to a performance or event.

Summer Tour (St. Louis 2025, Disney 2026)
July 12th or 13th - Art Fair on the Square Performance
September TBD - Bike Path Festival
December 5th-6th - A Nutcracker Masquerade Performance (required)
March 7th 2026 - Company/Crew Showcase (required)​

Financial Commitments
✔ Company Members will need to be enrolled at the "Principal" unlimited rate for both Summer and School Year Sessions.​

Audition Information
***All dancers interested in joining must attend the audition on Saturday, March 15th, or make alternate arrangements with the director.
​
Auditions help dancers elevate their technique and prepare for future opportunities, whether pursuing dance in college or as a career. Even if dance is not a career goal, the audition process provides valuable experience for situations like college admissions or job interviews.
​
It also allows the Artistic Director to assess each dancer’s potential and make informed choreographic decisions for the upcoming year.
Audition Registration: ​
Doors open at 10:00am, audition begins at 10:30pm. Dancers will check in with staff and turn in:

What to expect: ​
Once​ registration is complete the audition will be PROMPTLY at 10:30am. If you arrive late, you may not be allowed to audition. There will be 3 sections to the audition:
​
1. Strength and Flexibility Skills (Jumps, Turns, Leaps, Splits, etc.)
3. Jazz Progressions and Choreography
4. Contemporary Choreography including Improvisation

Audition Dress Code:​
Fitted Black Outfit (any combination of leotard, tights, shorts, leggings, etc). Hair completely off face and neck or something acceptable if has short hair.
Company Announcement: ​
Everyone auditioning will receive a notification via email with Company Placement (Senior, Junior, Trainee) prior to March 22nd, and will need to accept with an email response by March 29th.
