About
The Dansu Ballet Company is for committed ballet students who are ready to take their training to the next level. This group focuses on building strong technical foundations while encouraging artistic expression. Performers in this company will have the opportunity to showcase their talent and grow as artists.
General Requirements
A Company Member...​
✔ has a positive attitude​
✔ is a role model in and out of the studio​
✔ dresses appropriately for dance classes at all times​
✔ has a drive and passion for dance​
✔ shows respect for ALL instructors, choreographers, staff, and parents

Time Commitments
✔ At a Glance: minimum of 4 hours a week

General Studio Dance Classes​
Must be enrolled in Ballet 2 class (or higher) at Studio Dansu starting the Summer after acceptance. Additional classes are recommended, but not required.

Company Technique and Choreography Classes
*Rehearsal times are subject to change based on studio, instructor and dancer availability*
A minimum of two-25 min rehearsals that meets twice per week after the ballet/pointe classes​
Optional - One-55 min rehearsal and that meets once per week leading up to Youth Arts Grand Prix

Performances and Events
Company Members will be expected to be available and any extra rehearsals leading up to a performance or event.

Summer Tour (St. Louis 2025, Orlando 2026)
July 12th or 13th - Art Fair on the Square Performance
September 6th - Fall Ballet Performance (required)
November TBD - Exams through American Ballet Theatre
December 5th-6th - A Nutcracker Masquerade Performance (required)
January or February 2025 - Youth Arts Grand Prix Scholarship Audition

Financial Commitments
✔ Company Members will need to be enrolled at the "Principal" unlimited rate for both Summer and School Year Sessions.​

✔ Company Members are responsible for food and accommodations for any outings, workshops, performances, etc.​

Audition Information
***All dancers interested in joining must attend the audition on Saturday, March 8th, or make alternate arrangements with the director.
​
Auditions help dancers elevate their technique and prepare for future opportunities, whether pursuing dance in college or as a career. Even if dance is not a career goal, the audition process provides valuable experience for situations like college admissions or job interviews.

It also allows the Artistic Director to assess each dancer’s potential and make informed choreographic decisions for the upcoming year.
Audition Registration: ​
Doors open at 10am, audition begins at 10:30am. Dancers will check in with staff and turn in:

What to expect: ​
Once​ registration is complete the audition will be PROMPTLY at 10:30am. If you arrive late, you may not be allowed to audition. There will be a short ballet center warmup and an adagio and allegro combination taught and shown in small groups. After a short deliberation break, dancers will be taught a contemporary ballet combination that will include improvisation. Finally, dancers will demonstrate technical elements showcasing their strength and flexibility including pirouettes, battements, leaps, splits, etc.

Black Leotard and Tights

Ballet Shoes. Hair completely off face and neck either in a bun or something acceptable if has short hair
Company Announcement: ​
Everyone auditioning will receive a notification via email with Company Placement (Senior, Junior, Trainee) prior to March 22nd, and will need to accept with an email response by March 29th.
